Letter on reverse authored at Heidelberg Erzg. on 8.9.1916. No postmarks etc.</p>
<p>Possibly some kind of border post manned by these fellows from Landsturm Infanterie Bataillon &#8216;Wesel&#8217;. These men are located just a couple of kilometres from the (then) Bohemian border, now Czechoslovakia.</p>
<p>The men wear the M1913 Wachstuchmütze, although this overexposed photograph tends to make the caps look slightly like the M1914 variant. M1907/10 (or 1913) tunics with M1909 ammunition pouches.</p>
<p>Armament consists of <i>Beutegewehr</i>, or captured Russian Mosin-Nagant M91s.</p>
